MING THE MERCILESS Original Pastel Art from Filofax magazine cover #85
Oh, No... I can't forget the day Ming the Merciless sat for this portrayal. Not a word, not a smile except periodically the sneer of recall. So,
you have here one of the great villains of filmdom, as he made Flash Gordon's life a continual match of demon vs defender.
=======
Okay, I did this portrait of Ming and I'm glad I got to see, first hand, what pure evil is like. Those moments weren't pleasant but I knew this was my one chance with understanding the underside of our Universe.
=======
You can see where the sun strikes his face, but dramatized with the reflection of a cold planet on the other side. His pious expression, the kind when you know he's about to "pass sentence" on some quivering soul. What he wears augments his imperious station and blends perfectly with his heartless demeanor. One wonders how such a creature can exist at all. He did, but Flash came to the rescue and I am happy to tell you Ming is no longer a threat. This portrait is but a reminder of such a creature of villainy.
=======
You, dear reader, are wondering how I could have had Ming sit for this portrait if he was vanquished so many years ago. I'm keeping that matter locked. I can say this: he's in a Senior Citizen home, getting anger therapy and spending his days overlooking the Pacific Ocean.- Harley
