Starting from my teen years, it took me a while to appreciate James Dean. He was big at the time I was going to high school and was the guy showing us new age "cool." His acting career was three major films. At the age of 24, he died in a car accident. If he were alive today he'd be 90 years old.

We observe his face rather hidden yet we can recognize him immediately. This personifies him; he’s within himself here and rather distant from the outside world. The "real" and "acting" James Dean were often hard to distinguish.

Many fellows back then tried to take on his and Marlon Brando's personas. It never worked but fun to watch. -Harley
